Phil Schmitz - General Manager

Phil was born in Decorah, IA. He grew up in Northeast Iowa where he graduated from high school. He attended Luther College in Decorah, IA and graduated with honors from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service in Dallas, TX. Phil is a third generation funeral director. He grew up in a funeral service family where he worked for a short time before beginning employment with George Boom Funeral Home in 1985. Phil has been the manager of the firm since 1993 and became a partner in 1994. He is a licensed funeral director in South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota and Texas.

Phil's family includes his wife, Pam and a son, Zachary.

Phil is an active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church; the Knights of Columbus; Sioux Falls Downtown Rotary; Past President and member of the South Dakota Funeral Directors Association; as well as other professional organizations. Shelley Roemeling - Cemetery Administrator

Shelley grew up in Sioux Falls, SD. She attended college at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work and Psychology. After working a few positions in the social services field, Shelley became a full-time stay at home mother.

Shelley joined the staff at Hills of Rest Memorial Park in 2015. Her responsibilities include working with families to make interment arrangements on a pre-need or at-need basis.

Shelley is married and has three children. She is a member of St. Michael's Church. Shelley enjoys cooking, walks, movies, traveling and spending time with her family. Questions? Please email me at: shelley@hillsofrest.com
