Alice M. Irvine

Alice Marie Irvine, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28th at Ava’s House Hospice in Sioux Falls, SD after a long battle with cancer.

Alice was born on April 12, 1939 in Britton, SD to Elmer & Alma (Smith) Loberg. She spent her childhood in and around Britton until moving to Aberdeen in 1946. Alice attended Central High School, graduating in 1957. During her high school years, she was employed by NorthWestern Public Service and continued working there after graduating.  In November, 1960 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Irvine. They made their home in Aberdeen, SD and in 1971 they moved to Northville, SD.  Alice spent 30 years as a bankruptcy specialist with the Internal Revenue Service before retiring to Sioux Falls, SD.

Over the years Alice was known for her extraordinary kindness and never-ending curiosity of all things. In her 60’s Alice became a licensed ham radio operator, holding the highest class. She was an avid reader and enjoyed camping, boating, fishing and spending time with Ken at their cabin on the Missouri River. She also loved spending time with her family and pets.  You could talk with her about anything and she lived by an “OK for you” attitude. She was known as “the Oracle” by members of the family for her knowledge of many subjects.

Alice is survived and deeply missed by her husband Kenneth, son Jim (Denise) Irvine, daughter Kelli (Scott) Munsinger, grandson Tyler (Celesta) Frericks, granddaughter Dana (JD) Irvine, step-grandson Connor Munsinger, grandchildren Logan Frericks, Rowan Frericks, James Campbell, Adaline Hurst, sister Patricia Loberg, sister-in-law Jan (Danny) Booze and several nieces and nephews.
