Allan W. Meendering
Allan Meendering, Sioux Falls, SD, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2024, in Sioux Falls. He was 83.
Formerly of Northwest Iowa, Allan was born February 12, 1941, in Sioux Center, Iowa, to Bert and Ann (Mooibroek) Meendering. As a child, Allan moved with his family to a family farm near Sheldon, IA in 1948.
He was united in marriage to Corleen Brunsting on August 11, 1959. They resided in Hospers, IA, where Allan worked at the Hospers Meat packing plant until 1965. He then owned and operated the M&M Meat Market and Little Dutch Boy Meats in Hull, IA from 1965 to 1980. After closing the meat market, he was in sales throughout the 1980s. In 1990, they moved to Sioux Falls, SD, where Allan owned and operated Premere Forms, an insulated concrete form system he patented and distributed throughout the US and the United Kingdom.
In 2010, he met a very special friend, Lonnette Kelley and her granddaughter Macey Novak. They loved spending time together driving through the countryside taking photos and visiting small towns in the heartland.
Allan always looked forward to summer months when he could go fishing, boating or grill out with his family. He was a fierce competitor to anyone willing to play him in a game of cards or checkers. He cherished time spent with his family, particularly with his grandchildren. Allan’s legacy was one of unwavering love and dedication to his family, and he will be greatly missed.
Memorial services will be held 11:00am Friday, October 25, 2024, at Miller Westside Chapel, 6200 W. 41st Street in Sioux Falls. The family will be present for visitation and refreshments following the service.
Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Michael Meendering of Sioux Falls, SD, Monica Meendering of Mesa, AZ, Clint Meendering of Edgerton, MN, Stacy Meendering (Amy) of Gilbert, AZ, and Nikole Meendering Ackman (Jeremy) of Flower Mound, TX; grandchildren, Joshua Meendering, Cody Meendering, Makenzie Meendering, Ashley Meendering, Amber (Brett) Dammann, Taryn Goslinga, Natasha Meendering, Morgan (Cooper) Critchfield, Cole Meendering, Jade Ackman, Jordan Ackman, Zander Ackman, Zoe Ackman, Galilee Ackman; great-grandchildren, Cheyanne, Bennett, Jackson, Josie and Remi, Ava, and Waylon; sisters, Cornelia Jansen and Lois (Jim) Dirksen; brothers, Gary (Theresa) Meendering and Calvin Meandering; and sisters-in-law, Marge Meendering and Ruth Meendering.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Corleen Meendering; brothers, John Meendering, Lawrence Meendering, Marvin Meendering, James Meendering; brother-in-law, Harold Jansen; and sisters-in-law, Margaret Meendering and Nancy Meendering.
Memorial service will be held 11:00am Friday, October 25, 2024, at Miller Westside Chapel, 6200 W. 41st Street in Sioux Falls. The family will be present for fellowship and refreshments following the funeral service.
