Bernice J. Hamilton

Bernice J Hamilton of Sioux Falls, SD, age 80 died Monday, October 29, 2024, at Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls.  The private family service will be at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, Sioux Falls on Monday.  

Bernice Hamilton was born on March 16, 1944, in Canton, SD to Gilbert and Nellie Vande Stroet.  Bernice grew up in Rock Valley IA on the family farm.  Bernice was united in marriage to Donald P Hamilton in 1966.  They had two daughters, Denise (Sorensen) and Dawn (Foster) married to Barry.  Cooking and baking were Bernice’s passions as she was growing up.  After moving to Sioux Falls in 1990, she began working at MCT Transportation and Sioux Falls Housing.  Bernice enjoyed watching Westerns and True Crime shows and another passion was keeping up with current events. Her grandkids always had a special place in her heart as they would spend hours laughing and playing games together.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Nellie Vande Stroet of Rock Valley; sister, Evelyn; and two brothers, Peter and Rick.  

Survivors include daughters, Denise and Dawn (Barry Foster); grandchildren, Alexandria (Neave), Montgomery (Hinsch); and a total of eight great-grandchildren between the two granddaughters.
