Betty Schriever, 95, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away, January 10, 2025, under hospice care, at Edgewood Prairie Crossing Assisted Living, Sioux Falls.
Betty Lorene Fueston was born on April 22, 1929, at Wakonda, SD, the daughter of William Harold and Thelma Lorene (Case) Fueston. She grew up attending county school and then began high school in Gayville and later Vermillion. She began her work life at the Vermillion Dime Store. She later worked for Sunshine Foods, Red Owl Foods and at Donavon’s Hobby Shop.
On July 10, 1948, she was united in marriage to Henry “Hank” Schriever at the Lutheran parsonage in Tea, SD. They made their home in Sioux Falls. Husband, Hank passed away on January 9, 1999.
Betty was a member of Living Hope Community Church in Tea. She belonged to the Rose Ladies painting group and the Sioux Falls Active Generations, where she belonged to the Drama Club. Betty was an accomplished painter who taught painting classes. She also enjoyed painting Christmas balls, sewing and various other crafts.
Besides her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by half sisters: Judy Delreal and Chris Liss, sisters: Shirley Allen, Phyllis Davis and brother, Jim Fueston; one great-grandson Rylan Best.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Diane Jean Best, Sioux Falls, William “Bill” (Cindy) Schriever, Sioux Falls and Shelly Ann (Ben) Johnson, Harrisburg; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one-great-great-grandchild; sister, Jean Hoffman, Elk Point, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Living Hope Community Church, Tea, SD, with burial at Hills of Rest Cemetery. Visitation, also at Living Hope Community Church, Tea, with the family present, will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 17.
