Calvin C. Hanneld

 

 

Calvin C. Hanneld, Tea, SD passed away May 13, 2026 under the compassionate care of hospice.

Calvin was born to Bertha E. (Doering) Hanneld and Alven A. Hanneld on May 28, 1946, in Jamestown, ND. Calvin grew up on the family farm SW of Kulm, ND. He graduated from Kulm High School in 1964 and from Westmar College, LeMars, IA in 1968.

The first week of college he met Susan Muller. They dated throughout college and married after graduation in 1968. Calvin and Sue's son, Daniel John, was born in 1975.

Calvin taught school for three years. Then he worked for Lifetouch National School Studios for 31 years. Calvin was active in the Presbyterian Church serving on Session, teaching Sunday School, serving on committees and serving on Presbytery and Synod levels. He was a prayer warrior and a mentor to several people.

Calvin is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sue; one sister, Marion Hanneld, Omaha, NE; two nieces, Kathy (Steve) Saunders and Vickie Lacy and one niece-in-law, Sandy Hanneld, all of Oklahoma; great and great-great nephews and nieces; adopted family, Mary and Roger Froendt, Ethan, Emily and Evan Froendt, Tea, SD.

He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel John Hanneld; his parents; brother, Victor Hanneld; sister-in-law, Nancy Hanneld; nephews, Kevin Hanneld and John Lacy; mother-in-law, Darlene Muller; brother-in-law, Don Muller.

In lieu of flowers, please, consider donating to the Music Department of First Presbyterian Church, Sioux Falls or a charity of your choice.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 11:00am at First Presbyterian Church, A Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2026 from 4:00 to 6:00pm at Heritage Funeral Home.  Please check back shortly for a live stream link provided by the church.
