Carol Campbell, of Sioux Falls, peacefully passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at her home, surrounded by family. She was 92 years old.
Carol C. Campbell was born on November 18, 1932, to Hjalmer and Verna (Pierson) Odegaard in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She attended public school until the eighth grade.
On August 24, 1952, Carol married Leo W. Campbell in Sioux Falls. They were blessed with six children, and Leo passed away in 1980.
Carol worked in the cafeteria at Augustana College. She also served as the secretary at the Salvation Army and later became a cook at Meadows On Sycamore, where she worked for 20 years before retiring in 2016.
Family meant everything to Carol. She was a dedicated mother and cherished her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She took special joy in the holiday season, particularly Christmas, transforming her home into a festive haven filled with decorations and the sweet aroma of baking. Carol was a fantastic baker.
Carol is survived by her children: Leo Campbell of Sioux Falls, Margo Lail of Sioux Falls, Craig Campbell of Sioux Falls, Tammi Campbell of Burnsville, MN, Tracy Campbell of Sioux Falls, and Wade Campbell of Redfield, SD; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Marla (John) Kelley of Dallas, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Leo W. Campbell; her great-grandson, Tanner Lovaas; and her sisters, Elaine Odegaard and Marjie Hettich.
Carol will be laid to rest next to her husband at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Following the burial, a celebration of Life will be held at the Starlite Estates Clubhouse, located at 401 N. Paramount Place, Sioux Falls, SD.
