Daniel A. Roach

Daniel A. Roach, 63, of Sioux Falls, SD, died Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.  Visitation with family present to greet friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 21 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, Sioux Falls.  Following the visitation a celebration of life will be held at the Alibi on Arrowhead Parkway and Six Mile Road in Sioux Falls.

Daniel Allen Roach, son of Earl and Joy (Erichson) Roach was born November 29, 1955, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1974.  Following high school he attended  Radio Broadcast School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and DJ’d for country stations as “Charlie Edwards”.  He was later employed at Morrels before getting into the sanitation business.  In his younger years he enjoyed deer and pheasant hunting and fishing for anything that would bite.  Throughout his life he had a passion for sprint car racing.  Not only did he enjoy watching, but he also sponsored several cars over the years.  In his spare time, he took part in many auctions and was an avid collector of anything Americana.  He was an Eastside socialite who never met a stranger and  had a hot hand for the dice and card games. He was best known as “Dan, Dan The Garbage Man” and was owner/operator of Dan’s Garbage Service for 37 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Sarah Miller and children, Nolan and Kaiah of Sioux Falls; sons, Eric (Dawn Kerher) and daughter, Madison, Jared (Sara) and children, Haley and Ainsley, and Adam (Samantha) and children, Edward and Evelyn all of Sioux Falls; siblings, Doug Roach of Sioux Falls, Jana Schmiesing of Sioux Falls, and Bonnie (Dave) Hass of San Diego, CA; nephew, James (Arianna) Schmiesling of Sioux Falls; and niece, Melissa (Troy) Haaland of Sioux Falls.  He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Jeremy Miller; brother-in-law, Mike Fideler Sr.; and nephew, Rob Roach.
