Daniel C. Kemnitz

Daniel C. Kemnitz, 43, of Sioux Falls, SD, tragically passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at a friend's residence in Sioux Falls.

Daniel Carl Kemnitz, a man of many talents, was born on October 29, 1980, the third son of Leonard and Jean (Schiefelbein) Kemnitz in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He attended Washington High School for a few years and then went to the Job Corps in Montana. Dan later earned his GED.

Dan's work was not just a means of livelihood, but a reflection of his dedication and skill. He was a valued employee at Component Manufacturing for many years and also contributed to the community through various construction jobs, leaving a lasting impact.

Daniel's warm and gentle heart was a beacon of love and joy to everyone he met. He was a beloved figure in his family and a cherished friend to many. His group of friends held a special place in his heart, and they shared countless memorable evenings around the bonfire. An outdoorsman, Dan enjoyed hunting, fishing, and vegetable gardening, particularly tomatoes. His love for the outdoors was a testament to his adventurous spirit, and his passion for growing tomatoes was a reflection of his nurturing nature. But above all, Daniel's family, his pride and joy, was the center of his world, and he always found immense joy in their company. He also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, like a great steak and a beer in his hand. Dan's absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Leonard and Jean Kemnitz of Sioux Falls; siblings, Chris (Marcie) Kemnitz of Grand Island, NE, and Joe (Niki) Kemnitz of Sioux Falls; nephews, Alex (Bethany) Kemnitz of Grand Island, NE, Andy (Sarah) Kemnitz of Omaha, NE, and Matt (Alyssa) Kemnitz (and their daughter Baylor) of Sioux Falls; and niece, Bella Kemnitz of Sioux Falls. He will also be remembered by his aunts, Mary (Bill) Salmon of Chandler, AZ, Nancy (Jim) Weiss of Omaha, NE, and Mavis Kemnitz of Watertown, SD, as well as many other family members and numerous friends. Dan is also survived by Sadie Almont and her children, Shi (Eric) of St. Paul, MN, Nala, Sophia, and Noah, all of Renner, SD. Dan and Sadie were together for 15 years; he loved the five of them very much.

Daniel was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dean and Leona Schiefelbein of Milbank, SD, and Rudy and Ella Kemnitz of Sisseton, SD; Uncle R. (Kem) Kemnitz of Watertown, SD; Aunt Margaret Kemnitz of Sisseton, SD; and a cousin, Matthew Helm of Brandon, SD.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dusty Miller for his incredible heroics on that dreadful morning. Our hearts are filled with gratitude, and your courage will always be remembered.

A funeral service to honor Daniel's life will be held at 2:00 pm, with a visitation beginning at noon on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Miller Westside Chapel, 6200 W. 41st Street, Sioux Falls, SD 57106. We warmly invite all who knew and loved Daniel to join us in celebrating his life and sharing our memories of him. Please wear casual clothing, including shorts, as Dan would have wanted his friends and family to be cool and comfortable.
