Donna L. Dyar

Donna Dyar, 84, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Avera Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Her family will be present for a Celebration of Life Visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls. Burial will take place at Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls.

Donna Louisa Dyar was born on May 14, 1942, in Detroit Lakes, MN, to Lawrence and Mary (Cowles) Peterson. She attended Minnetonka High School and later college.

Donna was united in marriage to Robert “Brad” Dyar on October 6, 1962, in Minnetonka, MN. In 1967, they moved to Sioux Falls, SD, where Brad took over the family business and Donna devoted her time to raising her two sons, Mark and Peter. Donna and Brad joined the local Country Club, where they enjoyed spending time with friends and family. While there, she would often enjoy a friendly game of tennis and golf. They built their forever home out in the country and something Donna was so proud of was the fact that she designed it! Throughout the years, they enjoyed traveling to many places with friends and family. They renewed their 50th wedding anniversary while on a Mediterranean cruise.

Donna had a love for finding deals at any rummage sale, so much so that she opened up her own business called “Renovations”, where she would spruce up items she found at a sale and resell them.

Donna was an amazing cook and loved to entertain and make one of her delicious meals. Christmas time was her favorite time to decorate and whip up a meal to rival a 4-Star restaurant! She loved spending time with family and most of all, her grandson, whom she spoiled too much and could do no wrong in her eyes!

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Mark (Teri) Dyar of Sioux Falls, SD; grandson, Robert Dyar of Sioux Falls, SD; brother, John (Faith) Peterson of Mission, TX; and sisters, Kathy Taylor of Faribault, MN, and Lauire (Tom) Klemens of Hiltonhead, SC. Donna is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Mary (Cowles) Peterson; husband, Robert “Brad” Dyar Jr.; and son, Peter Dyar.
