Dorothy “Dot” Chapman, 87, of Beresford, SD passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, SD.

Funeral service will be 10:30 am Monday, March 31, at Miller Funeral Home Downtown, 507 S. Main Ave., Sioux Falls, SD with interment at Hills of Rest Cemetery, Sioux Falls, SD.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Dorothy K. “Dot” Campbell, daughter of Kitchell and Marjorie (Grimes) Campbell, was born June 2, 1937 in Spokane, WA.  She grew up in Washington and graduated from Washington State University and Loma Linda University in California.  Dot had enjoyed summers at her grandparent’s cabin on Loon Lake near Spokane, WA.

She married Billie Chapman and they were blessed with two children, Valerie and David.

She moved to Sioux Falls, SD where she worked as a nursing home consultant for Good Samaritan Society and retired in 2005.  She was a member of the National AHIMA and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Dot had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh with family and friends.  She enjoyed traveling, shopping, going out to eat and spending time with friends and family.

Dot moved to the Meadows on Sycamore Assisted Living in 2017 where she enjoyed the other residence and the friendly staff.  In 2022, she moved to the Bethesda Care Center in Beresford, SD where she was provided wonderful care.  The St. Croix Hospice Staff cared for her briefly until her death at Bethesda Care Center.  The hospice team provided tremendous loving and tender services.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Valerie Ann Fozo, Riverside, CA and David Chapman, Thousand Palms, CA; one grandchild, Jacob; a brother-in-law, Gerald George; and several nieces and nephews.   Dot had many special friends including Dan and Barb Hartmann, Linda Bauer, and Mary Geyer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert “Duffy” Campbell; two sisters, Annette Noel and Susan George.
