Eloye Adair Farrell (Brandsma), 83, of Hartford, SD, passed peacefully, surrounded by her family at Ava’s House Hospice in Sioux Falls, SD, on Monday, November 17, 2025.
Eloye Farrell (Brandsma) was born September 18, 1942, at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, to Leonal and Erma (Olson) Brandsma. She was raised in the area and graduated from Trent High School in Trent, SD, in 1960.
On August 30, 1963, she married the love of her life, William “Bill” Farrell, in Sioux Falls, SD. Together, they made their home in Hartford, SD, since 1977, and lovingly raised their two children, Lori and Chris. Eloye dedicated 45 years of service to the Good Samaritan Main Campus in Sioux Falls, retiring as an Executive Secretary.
Eloye had a kind, genuine heart. She was always ready to help others, a quality she carried with a constant smile on her face. Her greatest joy was her family and beloved dogs. Eloye passed those values to her family as well. She especially loved it when her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and "grand dogs" would come to visit, chat, and enjoy meals together.
She enjoyed outdoor adventures with her loving husband, Bill, and their children, which included fishing, camping, and sometimes hunting. Eloye had unique hobbies, including collecting pocket knives, sewing her own outfits in her early days, and journaling as she got older. At home, she was a dedicated viewer of Wheel of Fortune and other game shows.
Eloye is survived by her loving children, grandkids, and great-grandkids: daughter, Lori Phelps (Andy), granddaughter, Nichole Phelps, and great-grandchildren, Grayson and Aiden, Grandson, Brandon Phelps (Jaclyn), and great-grandchildren, Connor and Caelynn. Her son, Chris Farrell and his family: granddaughter, Amber Estrada (Randy), great-grandchildren, Lumen and Estuardo, and Grandson, Kyle Farrell (Emily).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her brother, Lamoyne (Twyla), her dogs Star and Sugar; her parents; half-sister, Maratha Koch; and half-brother, Lyle Brandsma.
Memorials and donations may be directed to Ava's House Hospice (Sanford) in Sioux Falls, SD or Avera Oncology Cancer Research in Sioux Falls, SD.
The family invites all who attend to join them for a light snack and refreshments following the services.
