Gary Dwane Voight was born on May 30, 1947, in Sioux Falls, SD, to Richard and Flora Mae (Hennings) Voight. He grew up in Sioux Falls and attended Sioux Falls Public Schools before proudly answering the call to serve his country.

Gary enlisted in the United States Navy and is a Vietnam Veteran. He served honorably aboard the USS Vega from 1966 to 1970, an experience he carried with great pride throughout his life. After completing his military service, Gary began what would become a devoted, decades-long career with John Morrell & Co., where he worked for 39 years until his retirement in 2009.

On January 15, 1971, Gary was united in marriage to the love of his life, Connie Keleher, at St. Joseph Cathedral. Together, they made their home in Sioux Falls and were blessed with two children, Kristi and Chad, whom Gary cherished deeply.

Gary approached life with enthusiasm, humor, and a spirit that brought joy to everyone around him. He loved camping, fishing, hunting, boating, and both traditional and miniature golf. He delighted in watching football, traveling, playing cards and cribbage, listening to classic country music, and spending time with friends—often adding his own special brand of mischief and shenanigans to any gathering. His humor was truly one-of-a-kind and will be remembered and retold for generations.

Above all else, Gary loved his family. He adored his wife, his children, and later his grandchildren, taking immense pride in each of them. His presence, laughter, and unwavering love leaves a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 55 years, Connie, of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Kristi (Bret) Van Regenmorter of Sioux Falls, SD; son, Chad (Erin) Voight of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Lauryn Van Regenmorter, Landon Voight, and Brielle Voight; brother, Jon Voight of Sioux Falls, SD; sisters, Judy (Richard) Thompson of Sioux Falls, SD, and Carol Staebell of Sioux Falls, SD.
