Gladys E. Beck

Gladys Beck, age 85, of Sioux Falls, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the Avera McKennan Hospital. 

A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 15, 2025, at the George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Hills of Rest Cemetery following the service. 

Memorial may be directed to St. Johns American Lutheran Church, 1912 W. 13th Street, Sioux Falls, South Dakota 57104.

Gladys Elizabeth Bieber was born November 13, 1939, in Eureka, South Dakota, to Gideon and Emma Bieber. She graduated from Eureka High School, moving to Sioux Falls with her husband, Gordon Beck in 1957. They raised five children. Gladys worked in the Sioux Falls Public School system for many years. She was a life-long member of St. John American Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir, bible study and volunteering. Her favorite hobbies were tending to her garden, flowers, and crossword puzzles. 

Grateful for sharing her life are her children Brad Beck (Merilee) of Leola, South Dakota, Bruce Beck of Sioux Falls, Kathryn Snoozy (Don) of Rapid City, Mary Schaefbauer (Kevin) of Sioux Falls, and Margaret Beck of Phoenix, Arizona; 10 grandchildren, Jordan Beck Di Yanni, Tyler Beck, Daniel Snoozy, Eric Snoozy, Jonathan Snoozy, Tony Schaefbauer, Jacob Schaefbauer, Matthew Carmody, Ashley Beck, and Michael Beck; and 5 great-grandchildren, Sawyer Beck, Finn Beck, Taylor Beck, Jackson Schaefbauer, and Aveline Schaefbauer. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 sisters, Kay Kivley, Mae Kruse, Wanda Teslow, and Elaine Eichinger; and 2 brothers, Herbert Bieber and Roy Bieber.
