Born on July 15, 1943, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Claude and Sylvia (Bayer) Falor, Jim grew up with a love for sports and outdoor activities. He graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls in 1961, where he was a standout on the varsity basketball team. A lifelong lover of baseball, Jim began playing Junior Legion Baseball at the age of eight, and his passion for the game continued throughout his life. He was a skilled pitcher, later playing amateur baseball for Renner, South Dakota.

On May 28, 1966, Jim married his beloved Janice Irene Thompson at First Lutheran Church in Bruce, South Dakota. The couple started their life together in Sioux Falls, where Jim worked as a truck driver for Armour Foods. They were active members of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Their first daughter, Elisabeth, was born in 1967, followed by their second daughter, Erica, in 1974.

The family relocated to the Twin Cities with Armour Foods before settling in Scottsdale, Arizona, where they lived for 20 years and owned a successful business. In 1999, Jim and Janice moved to Highlands Ranch, Colorado, where they embraced life with their family and were faithful members of Bethany Lutheran Church.

Jim’s love for hunting and fishing was a constant throughout his life, particularly his cherished pheasant hunting in South Dakota. He also enjoyed many fishing adventures with his two son-in-laws and his grandson. Above all, Jim loved spending time with his family. He and Janice could often be found cheering on their four grandchildren at their sporting events and school activities in Colorado.

Known for his warm heart, good humor, and quick wit, Jim was a man who could strike up a conversation with anyone and leave them laughing. His teasing and storytelling were legendary, and he was always eager to share tales from his past. Jim was deeply admired for his strong work ethic, his kindness, and his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Jim had a deep faith, often sharing how God had redeemed his life and guided him through difficult times. His spiritual strength was a source of inspiration to many.

Jim is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Janice Falor of Highlands Ranch, CO; daughters Elisabeth (Rick) Sikorski of Greenwood Village, CO, and Erica (Garner) Mabry of Sedalia, CO; grandchildren Gunnar (Kate) Sikorski of Minneapolis, MN, Petra Sikorski of Denver, CO, step granddaughter Ashley Peace (Sikorski) of Phoenix, AZ, Lauren Mabry (fiancé Collin Veen) of Minneapolis, MN, and Ella Mabry of Sedalia, CO; and great-grandson Otto Sikorski of Minneapolis, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Sylvia Falor, and his brother, Dick Falor.

Jim’s family and friends will forever remember his love, humor, and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
