Jean R DelVecchio-Washburn

Jean R. DelVecchio-Washburn, age 100 of Sioux Falls, SD passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2026.  Her Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Friday, January 9, 2026 at The Word of Life Pentecostal Church, Sioux Falls.  Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday, January 8, 2026 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, Sioux Falls.  Interment at Hills of Rest Cemetery.  

Ruth Jean Holmes was born August 15, 1925 to Leonard and Ruth (McMillen) Holmes in Madison, SD.  She moved to Sioux Falls when she was 13 years old, attended Washington High School.  She married James DelVecchio in 1944; while raising her family she also worked at the Sioux Falls airport restaurant for over 11 years.  She then worked at the Crack’d Pot, starting on their opening day and retiring in 1990.  In 1992, she married Vernon Washburn, he passed away in 2004.  

She loved going to church, member of Word of Life Pentecostal for many years.  She also enjoyed flowers, gardening, fishing, and travelling.  She mostly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She had two wonderful marriages and was blessed with many good years.  She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.  

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Charles DelVecchio of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Sandra Shafer of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter-in-law, Linda Claussen, of Sioux Falls, SD; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; step-son, Al (Mary) Washburn of Sioux Falls, SD; step daughter-in-law, Carol Washburn of Wisconsin; and a host of many other relatives and friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; sons, Jonathan, Bill, and Tommy; daughter, Nancy; step-son, Vernon; sisters, Phyllis, Dorothy, and Margaret; brothers, Dick and Frances.
