Jewel M. Wattier

Jewel M. Wattier, 92, of Sioux Falls, SD passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side, Sunday evening November 16, 2025.

     She was born December 5, 1932 in Roslyn, SD to George A. & Mamie A. (Erickson) Nado. She attended Waubay grade school and graduated as high school valedictorian. She married Franklin J. Wattier on October 27, 1951 in Watertown, SD.

She had resided in the same home in Sioux Falls, SD since 1951. She worked at John Morrell in Sioux Falls, SD in the data processing dept until her retirement in 1988. 

 Jewel was full of life and love for everyone; she enjoyed spending time with family and friends and in the early years of retirement enjoyed many vacations to different countries. She was an avid Vikings fan, played on a bowling team, had card games and went to bingo with her many friends. 

 Jewel is survived by her loving children: Charlotte Hanson of Sioux Falls, SD; Jerry Wattier and his wife Karen of Sioux Falls, SD.; Kenneth Wattier and his wife Donna of Dell Rapids, SD; and James Wattier and his wife Valerie of Sioux Falls, SD; a sister-in-law, Margaret Wattier of San Bernardino, CA. as well as 12 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a daughter and son-in-law Stephenie & Howard Christensen; 3 sisters and their spouses, as well as brother's in-law and sister's in-law. 

In Lieu of flowers, a donation to Sanford Home Hospice would be greatly appreciated.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, November 24, 2025 at Miller Funeral Home, Downtown location, 507 S. Main Ave, Sioux Falls, SD. Burial will follow at Hills of Rest Cemetery, Sioux Falls, SD.
