Julie Buskol (Severson) was born on July 28th, 1949 and raised in Sioux Falls, SD. She was the oldest of 5 siblings, who were very close and loved by their amazing parents, Glen & Patricia Severson. She married her high school sweetheart, Gary Buskol at age 18 on Nov 18th 1967. She was only 2 days older than Gary and they enjoyed celebrating their birthdays together every year.  Gary was drafted to the Army Jan 15th, 1969 and served in Vietnam while their firstborn daughter, Rachelle (Shelly) was born. After his tour, they moved to North Carolina until he was honorably discharged March 20th, 1972 and returned to Sioux Falls as soon as they could.

Julie filled her time as a Welcome Wagon & Tupperware Lady!  She eventually opened an in-home daycare and in 1975 their daughter, Heidi was born. When the girls were of school age, she decided to work outside the home as a cashier for Scheels at the Empire Mall. The store expanded to a new location on 41st & Minnesota where she started working in the office helping with the books & making signs, BY HAND! Scheels eventually moved to their new location at the Western Mall where she worked in the accounting office until retiring after 32 Years of dedicated service!

Her husband of 37 years passed away Feb 11th, 2005 after a two-year battle with cancer. “Gary & Julie” were an icon couple, always making people welcome in their home. They were known for having the best pool parties where Julie would serve her famous Rice Krispie Bars and Taco Dip!

In the years to follow, Julie loved her family and grandkids to the fullest. She enjoyed many travel adventures and endured countless weekends in cold ice rinks watching her grandsons play hockey.

Grateful for having shared Julie’s life are her daughters, Rachelle Himrich (Julie’s grand-dog, Dixie,) of Sioux Falls, SD; Heidi (Ted) Jerke of Sioux Falls, SD; her three grandsons, Parker (20), Lewis (18) & Edison (15); Siblings, Deborah Cramer of Sheboygan, WI, Glen Severson Jr. of Sioux Falls, SD, Mary (Greg) McGuire of Sioux Falls, SD, Teresa (Randy) Lang of Sundance, WY and her brothers-in-law, Skip (Beverly) Buskol of  Isanti, MN and Ivan (Kathy) Buskol of Sioux Falls, SD; and Multiple Nieces and Nephews.
