Kathleen Stout (Mulholland), 77, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on November 19, with her two sons by her side, after bravely facing a major illness she had previously conquered.
She will be remembered for her love of God; for her families in Scotland, England, and the United States; for her little dog, Chaos; for a lifetime devoted to charity; for the fabulous tales she shared about her exploits and experiences; and for a genuine kindness that left its mark on everyone she met.
Her career spanned real estate, corporate relocation, business administration, and government service in both Scotland and Thailand. She cherished being a mother and a Navy wife, a role that carried her to Thailand, Japan, and many countries around the world. For her, life was a constant adventure—one filled with new cultures, new cuisines, and the many wonderful people she met along the way.
She was predeceased by her husband, Carl H. Stout, USN (Ret.), of Chicago, Illinois; her parents, James and Agnes Mulholland, of Gourock, Scotland; her elder brother, James "Jim" A. Mulholland, of Paisley, Scotland; and her brother-in-law, Nelson Wright, of Gourock, Scotland.
She is survived by her loving sons, Carl W. Stout and Justin R. Stout, of Sioux Falls; her grandson, Lochlan W. Stout, of Knoxville, Tennessee; her sister, Lorraine Wright, of Gourock, Scotland; her brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Sue Mulholland, of Torquay, England; her sister-in-law, Sandra Mulholland, of Paisley, Scotland; her cousin, Keith Jackson, of Edinburgh, Scotland; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews in the United States, the United Kingdom and abroad.
