Kenneth Lee Jipp passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Friday May 15,2026. He was 83 years old.
Ken was born on June 4,1942 in Hartley Iowa. He grew up in Hartley helping his dad on the family farm. After graduating from Hartley high school in 1960, Ken studied business at The University of South Dakota. In 1966 he joined the Minnesota National Guard, serving until 1971. During that time, he moved to Sioux Falls and met his first wife Linda (Turgeon) and together they had a son Doug. After his time in the Guards, he started working at The House of Plywood where he later became a partner. He then went on to work at Schoeneman’s Lumber until he retired.
In 1993 Ken married his second wife Donna (Arnold), they remained married until her death in June 2025. Together they traveled the world. During their travels they saw all 7 continents. Ken’s favorite trip was the African safari. He often would grumble and groan when they planned another trip but once he was there, he would have the time of his life.
Ken loved to go to Kansas City every year to watch his granddaughter Sydney dance in her recitals. Ken enjoyed listening to 50’s music and watching old westerns from his favorite chair and sometimes falling asleep before the show was over. Ken was a very talented woodworker. Woodworking was one of his favorite things to do. He made several toys and furniture items throughout his life.
Ken is proceeded in death by his parents Lawrence and Martha (Slinger) Jipp and his loving wife of 32 years Donna.
He leaves behind his son Doug (Jen) and his granddaughter Sydney. He also leaves behind many friends and family members who will miss him every day.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a memory care facility of your choice.
