Madelyn “Lynn” Yvonne Parks, age 89, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota died Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 4, 2024 at St. Lambert Catholic Church in Sioux Falls. Visitation with family present to greet friends will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 3, at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls. Burial will be in Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls.

Madelyn “Lynn” Mayo was born April 26, 1935 to William and Yvonne (Onorato) Mayo in Fall River, Massachusetts where she was raised by her maternal grandparents, Michael and Elvire Onorato.

She graduated from Mount St. Mary Academy in 1953.

Lynn met her husband Lorin E. Parks while he was in the U.S. Navy stationed in Newport, RI. The couple was united in marriage in Fall River on June 5, 1956 at St. Patrick’s Rectory. Lynn and Lorin moved to Sioux Falls, SD in August 1957. She had great pride in her East Coast upbringing and made many trips back “home” to visit loved ones. Although missing her family she was welcomed with open arms into Lorin’s family.

Lynn was a stay-at-home mom and in her free time, she enjoyed bowling and playing cards. Lynn had a passion for shopping, bingo, and wheel of fortune of which she passed onto her children and grandchildren.

For the past 15 years, Lynn has enjoyed living at The Inn on Westport, where she made many wonderful friends.

Lynn will be lovingly remembered by son, Kevin (Darlene) Parks, Canyon Lake, TX; daughters, Kathi (Michael) Overgard, Chancellor, SD, Kimberly (Michael) Hartenhoff, Sioux Falls, SD, and Karla (Rick) Haught, Eugene, OR; 10 grandchildren; Jacqueline (James) Tuohino, Katie (Michael) Turgeon, Lindsey Overgard, Jay Overgard; Cassandra Hartenhoff (Mirza Havic), Mitchell Hartenhoff; Daniel (Ele) Storm, Eric Storm, Patrick Haught, Peter Haught and 10 great-grandchildren; Andrew, Makayla, and Elizabeth Tuohino; Lauren, Lucas, Logan, and Larissa Turgeon; Austin Overgard; Zoe Callies and Layla Havic; She is also survived by a sister, Joan Henrick, FL; Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law; Lyle and Margie Parks, Sioux Falls, SD; along with several nieces and nephews.

Lynn was welcomed into heaven by her husband, Lorin (2004); twin brother; William Mayo and sister; Cheryl (Mayo) Keithan; Mother-in-law; Iola Parks-Nelson, and many other beloved South Dakota and East Coast family members.
