Marjory E. Gross

Sioux Falls, SD ~ Marjory “Marge” Helvik Gross, age 97, died on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Edgewood Prairie Crossings in Sioux Falls, SD.  A memorial service celebrating her life, will be 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls, SD. Her family will be present to greet friends for visitation beginning at 1:00 PM.  

Marjory Helvik Gross was born on July 20, 1927, in Hayfield, Minnesota to Edward and Sylvia (Olson) Helvik. She was a beloved sister to Evelyn Lorents, Edward Helvik, Arlene Riley, Bernice McCabe, and Karen Conradt, and a cherished aunt to generations of nieces and nephews—great and great-great alike. True to the title, Marge was a great aunt in every sense of the word.

Marge spent the majority of her life in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where she worked for many years at The Austad’s Golf Company. She was known for her generosity, positivity, and unwavering kindness. Whether as a friend, sister, neighbor, or co-worker, Marge brought joy to every life she touched. She had a remarkable gift for making each person feel uniquely loved—as if they were the only one in the world. Her legacy is one of deep affection, quiet strength, and a life well-lived in service to others. We will miss her dearly, but we are forever grateful for the love she gave so freely.

Grateful for having shared her life are two sisters, Bernice McCabe of Sioux Falls, SD and Karen Conradt of Tecumseh, NE;  many special nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Sylvia Helvik; two sisters, Evelyn Lorents and Arlene Riley; and one brother, Edward Helvik.
