Michael graced life on October 2, 1965, and he was a treasure until he received a greater calling on May 2, 2026. He would like all of us to know his work here is done. This great calling was an offer not to be refused, an appointment from which he won’t be returning.
But with this new assignment, he receives a reunion with family he hasn’t seen in a long time. We are here to let him know we all wish him a safe journey.
We will remember his charm, warm personality, always quick with a joke or a bit of trivia. Oh, yes, let’s not forget that beautiful smile. Michael lived most of his life in Sioux Falls but the last years he lived in Yankton. His most precious moment was December 28, 1985, when he was blessed with the birth of his son, Drew Michael.
Michael left behind his parents, Harriett Gerry Kutter and Kenneth Jon Kutter; sister, Michelle Rotherham Cochran; and brother-in-law, Curtis Cochran, both of Sioux Falls; son, Drew Michael Rotherham of Durant OK, two grandchildren: Philip Michael Rotherham of Scottsdale AZ and Erik Christopher Rotherham of Durant OK; one niece, Emma Grace Rotherham of Sioux Falls; stepsisters: Kristy Kay Kutter Wolfe (Wyatt) of Buckeye, AZ and Cindi Ruth Kutter Dawn (William) of St Charles, MO and stepbrother, Steven Jon Kutter (Debra) of Sioux Falls; stepmother, Bobbie of Tucson AZ; stepsister, Laurie and stepbrothers, Scott and Gene of Tucson, AZ; and special friends, Michelle Gjerde and Christine Warne Ries.
We were all lucky to have had Michael in our lives.
