Pete was born on February 11, 1937 to William and Georgian (Standfield) Taylor in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He met his future wife while in junior high school and on January 5, 1956, Pete was joined in marriage to Donna Kirbach in Luverne, Minnesota. The couple had four children, Jan, Tom, Jerry, and Leola. In 1979, Pete opened Taylor Blacktop, owning and operating his business for 25 years before retiring in 2000.
Pete was very family oriented and was “the best” husband and father. He loved his family unconditionally, doing everything he could for them without any expectations. Pete was a bright source of positivity and a generous friend to all that knew him. With a caring heart, Pete would help anyone in need. He was social with a great sense of humor and made friendships easily, including a group of friends that met daily for coffee at Marlin’s. After retirement, Pete was often found tinkering in the shop restoring vintage cars, his favorite being Model T and Model A Fords. He also loved attending car shows. Faith was another important tenent in Pete’s life, and he attended Celebrate Church.
