Phoumy Banouvong

Phoumy Banouvong, age 96, died on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at her home in Sioux Falls surrounded by her family.  

Buddhist funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, in Sioux Falls. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, February 20, 2026, also at the funeral home.  

Phoumy was born on January 1st, 1930, in Laos to Kham and Bouaphanh Khammanyphanh.  She was united in marriage to Khamphanh Banouvong in 1947 in Laos. The couple had eleven children. The family moved to Sioux Falls in 1983.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, daughter, Khamphou Luangkhot; daughter, Khamphoui (Chanpheng) Sayasavanh; son, Aroun (Saengmany) Banouvong; daughter, Chansamouth Bandakone (Ounekham) Banouvong; daughter Amone (Ross) Phrommany; son, Sonthone (Daung) Banouvong; daughter, Nikone (James) Banouvong and son, Sonny (Phu) Banouvong; 29 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Khamphanh Banouvong; her daughter, Phouthone Banouvong; two sons, Daovone and Oudone Banouvong; son-in-law, Amanh Luangkhot.
