A memorial service to honor Rebecca's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls. Memorial visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2025, also at the funeral home.
Born on May 27, 1958, Glenco, Minnesota, Rebecca was the beloved daughter of Donald and Helen Posusta. She grew up with a strong sense of family, a creative spirit, and a contagious energy that brightened every room she entered.
Rebecca had a long and successful career in management, working for businesses including Johnson Shoes, RGIS, Family Dollar, Payless, Stern Oil, and Airserv. She was known for her strong work ethic, supportive leadership, and the many friendships she built along the way. Her employees didn’t just work for or with her-they admired her, and many became lifelong friends.
She married Clair Rice on August 1, 2023, and the couple quickly filled their days with love, laughter, and travel. One of her final adventures was a special trip to Padre Island with Clair and her sister, Jenny - a memory filled with joy and warmth.
Rebecca was also a talented photographer, and her artistic eye earned her recognition in local art shows. She was famously known at family gatherings for bringing “prizes” adding fun and surprise to every occasion. Her greatest passion, though, was her family, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her calendar was always full, and her plans always centered around loved ones.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Clair Rice of Sioux Falls; son, Daniel (Sheila) Latterell of Chancellor, SD; grandchildren, Layla, Layne, Lawson, and Londynn; sisters, Jennifer Dimond of Dassel, MN and Patrica (Todd) Remington of Watertown, MN; brothers-in-law, Terry Johnson of Hutchinson, MN and Kevin Olson of Casper, WY; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Helen Posusta; sisters, LaDonna Johnson and Lorriane Olson; and brother, William “Billy” Posusta.
Rebecca’s legacy is one of unwavering love, laughter, hard work, and vibrant living. She showed us how to care deeply, live fully, and never underestimate the power of a good pair of shoes or a piece of chocolate. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
