Bob was born in Virginia and moved with his family to Centerville, South Dakota, during grade school. After his mother married Ernest Moore, Bob gained a large and loving family with four stepbrothers and three stepsisters, in addition to his brother and sister. He quickly became known for his love of sports, excelling in both basketball and football throughout high school.
Following graduation, Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army, spending time stationed in Korea. When his service ended, he began a long and dedicated career at John Morrell, where he worked for 38 years.
In Sioux Falls, Bob met the love of his life, Joan, and together they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. They raised two children, Nathan and Kristi, and later enjoyed the blessings of grandchildren. After retiring, Bob stayed active with part-time jobs and found joy in pursuing his many passions.
Bowling was one of his greatest enjoyments, and he spent years competing in three different leagues and traveling to tournaments. He and Joan also shared a love of dancing, traveling, and volunteering together at the Washington Pavilion, where Bob proudly served for 14 years.
A car enthusiast and avid golfer, Bob spent countless happy hours on the course until his health no longer allowed. After suffering a stroke, he made his home at Luther Manor Nursing Home for 12 years. Known fondly as “the Ambassador,” Bob welcomed everyone he met, sharing conversations, humor, and kindness. Even in challenging times, he faced life with resilience, optimism, and his trademark wit.
Bob’s legacy is one of devotion to family, loyalty to friends, and a life well-lived. He will be remembered for his easy smile, warm heart, and unwavering love for those around him.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 63 years, Joan; son, Nathan Hall; daughter, Kristi (Dominick) Mariniello; grandchildren, Taylor (Tim) McLaughlin, Kamri Worden, and Nico (Alexy) Mariniello; three great-grandchildren; sister, Shirlee Hall; step sisters, Sharon Nutall and Ann (Dave) Morris; and many dear relatives and friends.
