Sioux Falls, SD ~ Ronald Arthur Konold, age 84, died on Thursday, April 9, 2020 at Ava’s House by Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD. Ronald Arthur Konold was born on February 9, 1936 in Avoca, MN to Arthur C. and Lucille (Frisk) Konold. He was raised and received his education in Worthington, graduating from Worthington High School in 1954. He continued his education at Worthington Junior College and then the College of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, MN graduating in 1956. While studying in Minneapolis, Ronald met a fellow student, Clarice Lewis. Ronald and Clarice were united in marriage on September 15, 1957 at the American Lutheran Church in Worthington.
A month after their wedding, Ronald honorably served in the Army Reserve. Following his discharge from the service, Ronald and Clarice made their home in Worthington and were blessed with the birth of four children.
Ronald worked as a manager of Gordy’s SuperValue Foods and in the laboratory of the Worthington Municipal Hospital until moving to Mitchell, SD in 1967. Ronald then began his career of over 30-years as a Field Representative with Federated Mutual Insurance covering all of South Dakota. In 1996, Ronald and Clarice made their home in Sioux Falls, SD. In his retirement, Ronald worked as a valet and parking lot attendant at Sioux Valley/Sanford Hospital and Orthopedics Institute.
He also worked as a currier for the Sioux Valley Hospital. Ronald was a longtime member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and loved to volunteer whenever needed.
Ronald enjoyed fishing, woodworking, playing golf and driving cars. Above all he loved spending time with his family; especially the annual family vacation to Platte City, Missouri. Ronald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Clarice Konold of Sioux Falls, SD; four children, Robin (Barney) Summers of Indianapolis, IN, Lori (Jesse) Suppes of Salina, KS, Todd (Susan Comley) Konold of Indianapolis, IN and Kurt (Monica) Konold of Owatonna, MN; ten grandchildren, Chris (Jennifer) Greene, Sarah (Cody) Hackney, Anthony Summers, Marie (Steve) Bombei, Andrea (Matt) Pfarr, Michael (Ashley) Summers, Angela Konold, Emma (Jake) Tupa, Claire (Kolby) Fuller, and Ben Konold; ten great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Lucille Konold; one sister, Adeline Fristo; and one brother, Gene Konold.
