Sally Niewald, daughter of William and Pearl (Montney) Wartenbee, was born in Watertown, SD, on December 15, 1944. After she graduated from South Shore High School, Sally moved to Sioux Falls, SD.

Sally was united in marriage to Larry Niewald on July 23, 1966, in South Shore, SD. She held various jobs in Sioux Falls, including one at Sioux Valley Hospital. Her biggest and most favorite job was raising her children and watching her grandchildren, and later her great-grandchildren grow up.

Sally enjoyed talking and praying over the phone with her friends. She was a faithful member of Abiding Savior Church and dedicated much of her time to bible studies and fellowship with friends. Sally was all about volunteering and helping people. She volunteered at the Sanford Hospice Cottages, helping with whatever was needed. Her favorite thing was reading the bible to the patients and praying with them. Sally also loved going on trips with her family and was an avid animal lover, especially cats and dogs.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Larry Niewald; children, Christy (John) Monahan of Sioux Falls, Lori Ebright of Sioux Falls, and Debbie (Mike) Sauer of Sioux Falls; brother, Steve (Deb) Wartenbee of South Shore; sister, Joyce Kjosa of Sioux Falls; eight grandchildren, Justin Ebright, Keirsten Sauer, Ashley (Nic) Middlen, Jenna Sauer, Reilly Monahan, Logan Monahan, Ryder Sauer, and Jase Sauer; five great-grandchildren, Kaden Middlen, Carson Middlen, Sy'Las Sauer, Trev'in Sauer, and Tonner Sauer; and many nieces and nephews.
