Sharon K. Lubeck

Sharon Kay Lubeck of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025, at the age of 80. A loyal and loving daughter, devoted educator, beloved aunt, and cherished friend, Sharon lived a life filled with a steadfast commitment to her family, faith and community.

Born on January 8, 1945, to Tressie May Perkins Sittig and Harold Sittig, Sharon grew up with a deep appreciation for learning. She graduated from Brandon-Valley High School in 1963 and continued her education at General Beadle State College in Madison, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Education in 1967. Sharon further pursued her passion for learning by earning a Master of Arts in Teaching from Augustana College in 1969.

On October 5, 1968, Sharon married Tom Lubeck. They shared 20 years of marriage, a meaningful chapter of her life.

Sharon began her teaching career in Mitchell and Montrose before making Sioux Falls her home. For nearly 30 years, she established herself as a respected second-grade teacher at Cleveland Elementary School, where she earned numerous accolades for her exceptional dedication and warmth in the classroom. Her impact on generations of students and fellow educators remains a lasting legacy.

In addition to her professional life, Sharon was a woman of many talents and interests. A self-taught pianist and organist, she played by ear and filled her life with music. She loved traveling, decorating, and exploring the arts. A devoted member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, she found joy in faith and community through choir and fellowship.

Sharon is survived by her sister-in-law, Frances Thoreson Sittig; her nieces: Laurie (Kirk) Bouzarelos of Colorado, Sarah (Joel) Superfon of Arizona, and Katie (Chad) Moore of Colorado; and her treasured great-nieces and nephews: George, Andrew, and Angelina Bouzarelos; Maya and Ivy Superfon. She is also lovingly remembered by her cousins: Deb Sittig, Bob (Ann) Sittig, Brian (Betsy) Sittig, Holly Swenson, Connie Anderson, Bonnie (Chris) Caudill, Pam (Patrick) Riley, Wayne Stockel, Peggy (Rich) Crum, and her dear Aunt Betty Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Tressie Sittig, and her brother, Lawrence (Bud) Sittig.

A memorial service to celebrate Sharon’s life will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Visitation will start at 10am with the funeral service at 11am.  Lunch will follow before the procession to Hills of Rest for the internment.
