Steven S. Hepner, age 66, of Sioux Falls died Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the Aberdeen Health and Rehab Center in Aberdeen, South Dakota with his family by his side. A family directed Celebration of Life will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, February 1st, 2025, at Harvest Church, 6101 S. Bahnson Ave, Sioux Falls.

Steven Hepner was born May 20th, 1958, in Chicago, Ill to Theodore and Agnes (Steenstra) Hepner. He attended Sioux Falls public schools and graduated from Lincoln Senior High School in 1977. Following high school, he worked at Littons and Hutchinson Technologies. In 1996, he started a residential and commercial painting contracting company called Integrity Painting where he ran the business for over 23 years. He enjoyed pointing out all the projects he worked on while driving around town with family and friends.

He was most currently a member of Grace and Truth Church in Sioux Falls where he attended regularly and enjoyed the fellowship, sense of community and most importantly the monthly Men’s Breakfast.

For those of you who know Steve best, we all know he was the Crappie King. As an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, he enjoyed teaching his sons, nieces, nephews, friends and family the joy of fishing for Crappie. Steve often enjoyed teaching young kids the nuances of tying a proper fishman’s knots, and other lifelong fishing knowledge and with any fisherman, he always had a tale or new fishing spot to share. He was also the best gift-giver with friends and family often receiving an out of the blue surprise because he found something that he thought they would enjoy. He also found great joy in witnessing his faith to others. He would often strike up a conversation that would end in a prayer and a friendly invitation to church.

He enjoyed being a part of new church plants and contributed greatly to the success of both Harvest Church and Grace and Truth Church, both in Sioux Falls. Providing sense of community and developing Godly friendships was his most important passions.

Grateful for having shared his life are his three sons, Tad Hepner (Karle), Sioux Falls, SD, Ethan Hepner, Wyoming, and David Dravland, Kansas City, NE, mother Agnes Meyer, Sioux Falls, SD, brother Daniel Hepner (Carrie), Sioux Falls, SD, sisters Lisa Lynn (Stan), Sioux Falls, SD, Nancy DeWald, Kyle, TX, Sue Thies, Elizabeth, CO; and grandchild Elin Hepner. He was preceded in death by his father Theodore (Ted) Hepner. As well has a host of nieces and nephews.

Memorials made in his name should be directed to Grace and Truth Church, 3812 N Cliff Ave, Sioux Falls, SD.
