Steven “Ole” Olson, a lifelong resident of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at his home with his family by his side. Ole was 71 years old.

Steven Arthur Olson, known as “Ole,” was born on September 18, 1953, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to his parents, Carl and Virginia (Olsen) Olson. He attended public school and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1971. Ole continued his education at Augustana College, earning a Bachelor’s in Business and Art.

On July 7, 1978, Steven married Marlene Dixon at Prairie Village in Madison, South Dakota. The couple resided in Sioux Falls and had four daughters: Shannon, Stephanie, Brittany, and Amanda.

After his marriage, Ole initially worked in construction, specializing in tile work for a few years. He entered the stained-glass industry and established his company, SGO-Stained Glass Overlays. After several years, Ole sold his business and took a position as a salesman at Furniture Outlet, where he worked for over 15 years before retiring in 2019.

In his spare time, Ole enjoyed listening to music, particularly classic rock and roll. He also had a passion for hunting and, in his younger days, loved gardening flowers alongside his grandmother. One of his greatest passions was cooking, which he was also good at. Ole was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed making jewelry from opals, often creating unique pieces for his daughters and grandchildren. Above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Ole is survived by his wife of nearly 47 years, Marlene Olson; cherished daughters Stephanie, Brittany, and Amanda Olson; six grandchildren, Anthony Page, Annika Olson, Blaike Olson, Iris Olson, Daxton Olson, and Everett Doop; and two great-grandchildren, Marcus Page and Sylas Page. He is also survived by his dear friend, Lynn Hurley.

Ole was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Virginia Olson; his daughter, Shannon Olson; and his grandson, Justin Olson.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 7, 2025, with family present one hour prior to greet friends, at Miller Funeral Home – Downtown, located at 507 S. Main Avenue, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Interment will take place at Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
