Susan Marie Hofer

Susan Marie Hofer, age 60, of Sioux Falls, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Ava's House. Her Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, June 8th, at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, Sunday, June 7th, at the George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory. 

In lieu of flowers, the Hofer Family request memorials be directed to the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society or the Keystone Treatment Center in Canton, South Dakota.

Susan Hofer was born on October 27th, 1965 in Canton, South Dakota to Robert (Bob) and Judy Nelson. Susan graduated from Lincoln High School in 1984 and from Nettleton College with an associate degree in business. She was married to Roger Hofer on July 8th, 1989 at Hilltop United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The temperature on their wedding date was 102 degrees which still holds as the hottest day on that date.  

Susan worked a variety of jobs during her life including Woodlake Athletic Club where she met her future husband Roger, Orion Enterprises, Specialized Card Services, Waddell & Reed, Daily Thread and most recently at Maurices. She enjoyed and excelled at helping others pick out outfits for special occasions, weddings and funerals. 

Susan had many hobbies including puzzles, gardening, collecting salt and pepper shakers, trying new recipes, decorating the house for every holiday and hosting Thanksgiving dinner.

Many things held a special part of Susan's heart including her 3 past German Shepherds, her current dog, Maverick, the Lincoln High Marching Band which she was a proud member of and most importantly her friends and family.

Susan volunteered for many years at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society and 11 years as a volunteer at AseraCare. She helped many people and families with their journey through hospice care.

Susan is survived by her husband, Roger and her parents, Jim and Judy Hall.
