Trevor L. Thorpe Sr.

 

 

Trevor LaSalle Thorpe, Sr., age 84, of Sioux Falls, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024, at the Sanford USD Medical Center, surrounded by his family, due to a stroke after a lengthy illness with Parkinson's Disease. 

His Funeral Service will held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 21st, at the George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory. Burial will be in the Hills of Rest Cemetery. 

Trevor Thorpe Sr. was born in Canton, South Dakota on October 27, 1939 to Luverne Thorpe and Ellen James.

He graduated from Washington high school in 1958. He was then employed by Raven Industries before working for Western electric. He also joined the South Dakota Air National Guard in 1958 and was discharged from the Texas Air National Guard in 1964.

He married his high school sweetheart Diana Vestergard in 1961 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. His job with Western electric took them to Dallas, Texas in 1963 with their two small children, Trevor and Kristine. In 1966 they moved to San Jose California, (where  Trevor worked for AT&T and Diane was a nurse) and they lived for 51 years before their move to Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 2017.

Trevor enjoyed being a private pilot, golfing with his buddies, gardening and being involved with his church. Trevor and Diane loved traveling together, including trips to Europe and several cruises.

Trevor was so proud of his kids, grandkids and great grandkids! ♥️

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Diana Thorpe of Sioux Falls; son, Trevor L Thorpe, Jr. of Utah; daughter, Kristine (Bradley) Rogotzke of Sioux Falls; nephew (loved as a son), Steven Thorpe of Grapeview, Texas; three grandchildren, Brandon Henderson, Kayla Rogotzke and Zechariah Rogotzke; two step-grandchildren, Steven Johnson and Rebecca Johnson; and five great-grandchildren, Carter Henderson, Emery Henderson, Gracie Rogotzke, Jameson Rogotzke and Olivia Rogotzke. 

Trevor is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Verlyn Thorpe; and sister, Wanda Sullivan.
