In 1987, they relocated to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where KK enjoyed playing pool, bowling, performing with his band Noom Sy Khout, and having friends over for dinner. He became a naturalized citizen of the United States on May 12, 2006. He was employed at John Morrell from 1987 until his retirement in 2021.

KK was known for his dedication to his family and his kind, mischievous spirit.
