Xua Van Lu

Xua Van Lu, 67, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the funeral home.

Xua Van Lu was born on November 7, 1957, in Vietnam, to Y Lu and Phan Nguyen. Xua married Thuan Minh Vu in Vietnam on January 4, 2001. They were blessed with a son, Minh Lu.

Xua worked at John Morrell, holding many different positions, for over 40 years, retiring in 2024. He also worked part-time as a cook at a local Chinese restaurant.

Xua enjoyed having coffee in the morning with friends, cooking, working, and traveling. He enjoyed trips back to Vietnam, Holland, Germany, Canada, and many more. Above all, he was committed to being a good husband and father.

Xua is survived by his wife, Thuan Minh Vu of Sioux Falls, SD; son, Minh Lu of Sioux Falls, SD; brother, Ty (Kim Vo) Lu of Brampton, Canada; sisters, Muoi Thi Lu and My Van Thi Lu, both of Mississauga, Canada; and nephew, Tony Lu of Brampton, Canada.

Xua was preceded in death by his parents.
